Prague – In the European Parliament elections, it is important not to allow populists and extremists to succeed, said today Prime Minister and ODS Chairman Fiala at the conclusion of the Spolu coalition (ODS, KDU-ČSL, and TOP 09) campaign in Prague’s Grébovka park. He urged people to come to the European elections in the greatest number possible and vote for parties that offer real solutions. The elections in the Czech Republic will take place on Friday and Saturday, and the results will be announced by the Czech Statistical Office on Sunday evening.
Alexandr Vondra (ODS), the lead candidate, said today that the Spolu coalition is 25,000 to 30,000 votes from winning. According to a May survey by the STEM agency for CNN Prima News, the opposition ANO movement would win the European Parliament elections with 23.1 percent of the vote, while the Spolu coalition would take second place with 21.5 percent of the vote. “Anyone who does not want Andrej Babiš or Tomio Okamura to rejoice after the elections, come to vote and vote for the Spolu coalition because only they can win,” Vondra emphasized.
According to Fiala, it is necessary to vote responsibly and sensibly so that the Czech Republic has the best possible representation in Europe and the European Parliament. “If we want a safe and competitive Europe in the future and if we want the interests of the Czech Republic to be reflected in European decisions, we must send to the European Parliament people who have courage, experience, and a clear vision of what the European Union should do,” he said. According to him, the Spolu’s candidate list offers such representatives.
In the previous European elections in 2019, the ODS ran independently and won four mandates. Two mandates were occupied by representatives of KDU-ČSL. TOP 09 ran together with Mayors and Independents, with two representatives from TOP 09 and one from STAN entering the European Parliament.
