The European Union is turning a new page with the arrival of its next leadership team at the bloc’s executive arm – the European Commission. This EU Elections Spotlight introduces the new European Commission, which took office on December 1, 2024 and will have a mandate for the next five years until 2029.

The group of five Executive Vice-Presidents, one High Representative/Vice-President and 20 Commissioners – led by the President – is tasked with steering Europe through critical challenges, from climate action and defence to digital innovation and from economy and migration to global diplomacy.
