SOFIA – The borders cannot be changed by force and Ukraine’s long-term security must be guaranteed, said Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a video conference of the “Coalition of the Willing,” led by French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. This was reported by the government information service. The meeting included representatives from 36 countries, including the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, and state and government leaders.
Zhelyazkov pointed out that every country should be equally represented at the negotiating table when its future is being discussed.
During the video conference, it was emphasized that the agreement reached in Geneva between representatives of the United States, European partners, and Ukraine represents a realistic and sustainable framework upon which the international community can build to develop the process for achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. The parameters achieved in Switzerland are key to building a future security architecture, the Bulgarian government press service added.
Ukraine’s European path is a choice that meets the interests of both the Ukrainian people and the European Union, said the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament Raya Nazaryan during the plenary session of the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the International Platform for Crimea in Stockholm, Sweden, the press center of the National Assembly reported. A stable, independent, and democratic Ukraine is an important factor for the security and prosperity of our continent, Nazaryan emphasized.
Bulgaria remains a strong supporter of Ukraine’s efforts for a just and lasting peace that guarantees its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as the only possible alternative is strict adherence to the international rule of law, said Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev at the opening of the 66th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Sofia.
