Brussels – The Minister of Internal Affairs Panche Toshkovski is participating today in Brussels in the International Conference of the Global Alliance to Combat Migrant Smuggling.
The conference will examine key trends in irregular migration and migrant smuggling, such as the modus operandi of smugglers, including with regard to organizing irregular air migration, and will identify strategies to address these challenges through enhanced operational and judicial cooperation and improved information exchange.
The gathering aims to bridge the gap between global, thematic and regional partnerships and processes and other initiatives, in order to identify good practices that can enhance synergies and foster cooperation.
Within the framework of the conference, three thematic sessions will also be held focusing on prevention, response and alternatives to irregular migration.
At the conference, addresses will also be given by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner.
Among the participants at the gathering will be government representatives from countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America, including the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Albania, Albana Kochiu, of Belgium, Bernard Quintin, of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, and of Montenegro, Danilo Saranovic, the head of British diplomacy Yvette Cooper, the Minister-Delegate in the French Interior Ministry, Marie Pierre Vedren, the State Secretary in the German Interior Ministry, Christoph de Vries, the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy Henna Virkkunen, the European Commissioner for Financial Services and Investments Maria Luis Albuquerque, the European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Sikela, the Executive Director of Frontex, Hans Leijtens, the Executive Director of Europol, Catherine De Bolle, and other high representatives of European agencies and international organizations.
