Bratislava – President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini received on Friday, on an introductory visit, the Head of the Representation of the European Commission (EC) in Slovakia, Peter Stano. The EC Representation in Slovakia states this on its website, TASR reports.

Peter Stano, during the meeting with President Peter Pellegrini, recalled that Slovakia’s membership in the European Union (EU) is key for the country and its inhabitants – from guaranteeing democratic principles, the rule of law, fundamental rights and freedoms, through supporting economic growth and raising the standard of living, consumer protection, all the way to strengthening Slovakia’s position in Europe and in the world.

The EC Representation in Slovakia also declared that under the leadership of the new head it will continue substantive and positive communication about the benefits and obligations of EU membership, support dialogue and mutual respect both with representatives of official institutions or political parties, as well as with civil society and the general public.

Peter Stano was appointed as the new Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia on 16 October of this year.
