Skopje – When two countries have a common desire and common goals, they find time for visits and joint cooperation in all spheres, in order to improve the lives of their citizens, stated the Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali at today’s joint press conference in Skopje with the Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski.
– Geography placed us as neighbors, history taught us to be friends, and the economy makes the two countries partners, said Spiropali.
She emphasized that European integration is priority number one of Albania’s foreign policy, but also of the Albanian people, and that for the country it is a great achievement that in 13 months we have opened 34 chapters in the negotiations, especially in the area of law, the fight against corruption and respect for minorities.
– Once again it has been shown that our path is the right one and that the European future of Albania is inseparable from the trajectory of the Western Balkans. We do not see this process as a competition between candidate countries, but as a path that we walk together, a destination that is inevitable and a natural belonging of our peoples, pointed out Spiropali.
She emphasized that Albania strongly supports the Macedonian European path and that this is not only because the two countries are partners and share a common future, but also because North Macedonia with strong institutions means security for the entire region. (22 December 2025)
