Sarajevo, (Fena) – The European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina has established its first Youth Advisory Board (YAB), as a new body that brings together 15 young leaders from across the country. The Board was formed with the aim of providing an institutionalized and structured channel for cooperation between young people and the EU in BiH, through which they can represent their peers by expressing opinions, ideas and proposals on key topics for young people in the country.

The members of the Board come from different local communities, representing a wide range of professions and areas of interest. Among them are young activists, engineers, students and high school students, youth workers, journalists, researchers and others. This diversity ensures that the EU’s activities in BiH reflect the different needs and priorities of young people throughout BiH, including the perspectives of socially and geographically less visible communities.

During their mandate, the members of the Board will have the opportunity to work closely with the EU in BiH, attend meetings and consultations, and actively contribute to the development of recommendations for policies, projects and programs aimed at young people. They will also engage in dialogue with representatives of institutions, civil society, the business community, educational institutions and international organizations, advocating for the interests of all young people in the country.

The establishment of the Youth Advisory Board represents an important step in strengthening the partnership between the European Union and young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The activities of the Youth Advisory Board will begin at the start of next year, after an orientation event at which the members will be introduced to their roles, responsibilities and working methods.

With this initiative, the EU in BiH confirms its long-term commitment to greater participation of young people in public life by creating a space in which the voices of young people play a significant role in shaping policies that affect the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (22.12.)
