Portorož – The President of the Manager Association Iztok Seljak at the annual managers’ congress, which started on Thursday, pointed out the lostness of companies in the “comfort zone, as long as it lasts” and the necessity of technological innovations and the development of long-term and sustainable competitiveness strategies. Approximately 450 gathered businesspeople were also addressed by the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, who also emphasized the urgent need to increase productivity.
In the last 20 years, we have observed how other forces have grown while European productivity has lagged behind, Kos emphasized. “But we have all the levers to turn this trend around: knowledge, capital, an internal market of 450 million people, social security. We just need to show even greater courage and determination,” she said.
The managers’ congress, which started today organized by the Manager Association in Portorož, marks a discussion on the key challenges shaping the economic and social reality in Slovenia and beyond. The discussions also highlighted demographic shifts in the labor market, where Slovenia is particularly vulnerable.
Commissioner Kos will visit Carinthia on Friday, one of the most affected regions in the catastrophic floods of August 2023. She will meet with representatives of local authorities and view flood protection infrastructure and projects whose construction was co-financed with funds from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility.
