Sarajevo (Fena) – The exhibition “The Greenest Examples of the Western Balkans” has been opened at Europe House Sarajevo, presenting the 15 best works from the EU4Green photo contest, selected from among 138 entries.
The photographs show inspiring examples of biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture, circular economy and green finance, with the message that an environmentally sustainable future for the region is possible.
The EU4Green project, which has been running since 2022, supports the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans through strategic documents, regional cooperation and citizen engagement.
The European Union has allocated 10 million euros for this project, confirming its long-term commitment to the green transition.
The Head of the Communications Department of the EU Delegation in BiH, Ferdinand Koenig, emphasized that the photographs of young people not only show the beauty of nature, but also the need to protect the environment in light of record air pollution.
He highlighted the important role of civil society and local communities in preserving the environment.
Among the three winners of the contest is a photographer from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indir Merdanović, the recipient of the third prize.
The exhibition is part of a regional series that has already been presented in the capitals of the Western Balkans, and Sarajevo is hosting the final display.
The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of environmental challenges and strengthen the cooperation of all actors in society on the path towards sustainable development. (17.12.)
