Paris (France) – French President Emmanuel Macron is traveling to Washington on Monday, along with several other European leaders, to accompany his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky during his meeting with Donald Trump.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and NATO Chief Mark Rutte have also confirmed their attendance.
On Sunday, the “coalition of volunteers” – which brings together supporters of Kiev, most of the major European countries, the EU, NATO, and non-European countries like Canada – examined what the outlines of a potential Ukraine-Russia peace agreement could be.
The result of intense diplomatic negotiations, the meeting in Washington with American President Donald Trump is a first since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
