Madrid – The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has assured that “Spain will do everything in its power” to guarantee “a just and lasting peace in Ukraine,” within the framework of the summit this Sunday in London, organized by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
“In London, to continue working with our allies in building the just and lasting peace that Ukraine needs. Spain will do everything in its power to achieve this objective and guarantee the security and freedom of Europe,” he published in a message on the social network X.
Before the meeting, the leaders posed for a family photo in front of the flags of their respective countries. At the end of the meeting, Sánchez and Zelenski embraced with respective pats on the back and began to climb together the steps to the room where the summit takes place while exchanging a brief dialogue.
At the summit, total support has been expressed for Zelenski after the situation experienced last Friday at the White House during his meeting with the American President, Donald Trump, in which he accused him of being “disrespectful” and “playing with World War III”.
Following this, Sánchez, like other European leaders, came out in support of the Ukrainian President with a “Ukraine, Spain is with you”.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has announced that his country will present a ceasefire proposal to the United States, together with France and Ukraine, with the final intention that a negotiating North American delegation will forward it to the Russian Government for evaluation, and he has advanced that he will propose the creation of a coalition of countries to accelerate the European response to the war in Ukraine and ensure continental security.
