Sarajevo, (Fena) – The working group for drafting the Consumer Protection Act of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a final meeting where it finalized the working text of this law, the Government of FBiH announced.
Representatives of employers, consumers, and inspection and tax authorities, as well as the academic community and ministries, who make up the working group, gave their final proposals to achieve the best and most efficient legal solution.
– It is a modern, functional law that ensures greater consumer protection, easier realization of their rights, and easier and faster dispute resolution, preventing unfair trading practices.
It enables clear contract conditions and prevents the hiding of additional payments and introduces new mechanisms such as the withdrawal of dangerous products from the market – said the Minister of Trade of FBiH, Amir Hasičević.
Minister Hasičević added that this legal solution introduces the possibility of reconsideration, meaning that buyers have the right to withdraw from the purchased product without stating reasons and return it within 14 days, in accordance with the practice already available to buyers in European Union countries.
The Consumer Protection Act of the Federation of BiH, emphasized by the Ministry of Trade, is harmonized with all ten European Union directives related to consumer protection.
This allows access to a wider market with the same rules that protect consumers. This is the first time that the Federation of BiH is getting its consumer protection law.
Better consumer protection in accordance with European Union rules is one of the conditions for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European path. (21.03.)
