The European Union Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, assessed that the pre-financing of 64.5 million euros within the framework of the Growth Plan constitutes another important moment in Albania’s journey towards EU membership.

“Congratulations to Albania on achieving another important moment in its journey towards EU membership. The Growth Plan stimulates the economy, strengthens the rule of law, supports a greener Albania, and empowers human capital,” said the EU ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato.
Albania has just received 64.5 million euros in pre-financing according to the EU’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
This first payment supports Albania’s reforms and investments to strengthen the country and bring it closer to the European Union.
Albania received the pre-financing foreseen within the framework of the EU’s Reform and Growth Mechanism. It is part of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which aims to accelerate the socio-economic convergence of the region with the EU and pave the way towards EU membership.
In a media announcement, the European Union office in Tirana announced that the pre-financing, valued at 64.5 million euros, will support the implementation of the Reform Agenda within the framework of the Reform and Growth Mechanism, as well as the commitments that Albania has undertaken with it. With this pre-financing, Albania received 30 million euros in concessional credit for the state budget as support for the implementation of reforms within the country’s Reform Agenda. The remaining pre-financing of 34.5 million euros in grants and concessional loans will be directly injected into the WBIF (Western Balkans Investment Framework) for infrastructure investments in Albania. / (March 26)
