Skopje – We are aware of the fatigue from enlargement, but there is even greater fatigue from waiting. Therefore, as the chair of the SEECP, I encourage European partners to remain consistent, credible, and principled towards the European idea. It is not enough to say that the EU is an unfinished story and an unfinished symphony without the Western Balkans; rather, the Western Balkans need to be included in the orchestra, it needs to write notes and participate in European affairs, stated President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova at the closing press conference of the SEECP meeting in Skopje.
– The vision for the EU keeps us in shape and in reforms. It helps us to resolve open bilateral issues in a European manner, said Siljanovska-Davkova.
The Macedonian president stated that it is extremely important for EU members that are part of the Partnership for Cooperation in SEE to support Western Balkan countries on their European path.
She assessed today’s meeting as very positive and thanked former president Stevo Pendarovski and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, who were involved in this process.
From July 1, Albania will take over the chairmanship of the SEECP. (June 13)
