Athens – The path of North Macedonia to Europe passes through Greece and the respect for the Prespa Agreement, said the spokesperson of the Greek Government, Pavlos Marinakis, at today’s briefing with journalists held in Thessaloniki, reported the correspondent of MIA from Athens.
Answering a journalist’s question about the EU perspective of the country, the Prespa Agreement and a possible meeting of the prime ministers of the two countries, Christian Mickoski and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Marinakis commented that he is glad to be asked and that he has the opportunity to respond from Thessaloniki, reiterating the positions of the current Greek Government.
He reminded that the current ruling Greek party New Democracy, when it was in the opposition, did not vote for the Prespa Agreement and that at the time Mitsotakis “said that once adopted it cannot be annulled.”
– Respect (for the Prespa Agreement) is a necessary prerequisite on this path, this is not negotiable, nor will anything change in this statement and position, which is also our national position. Consider how justified is the Greek Government and the Prime Minister personally for not rushing, as requested by other parties in the Greek Parliament, to ratify the corresponding memoranda, which would essentially have given everything before our neighbors have done the minimum. We expect them to do the minimum and the obvious to have any other discussion, said Marinakis. (October 17)
