Brdo pri Kranju – Slovenia on Thursday completed its second presidency of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) at the 9th Annual Forum at Brdo pri Kranju. The presidency was assumed by Austria and Liechtenstein. The Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon described the Slovenian presidency as successful at the press conference.
“Cooperation in the Alpine region is crucial because the living conditions for our population are significantly more challenging due to extreme weather changes, and we also wish to preserve biodiversity, protect the environment, and remain competitive,” said Fajon.
EUSALP was formed in 2015 and is intended to improve cross-border cooperation among the seven Alpine countries (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, and Switzerland) or 48 regions, setting common goals and implementing them more effectively. Among the priority areas are shared economic growth and innovation, mobility and connectivity, and environment and energy. (November 14)
