Ljubljana – Slovenia was visited by the spouse of Ukrainian President, Olena Zelenska, at the invitation of the spouse of the President of the Republic, Aleš Musar, on the thousandth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “Ukraine is trying to rebuild faster than Russia destroys,” she said on Tuesday at the annual meeting of the ITF Advisory Board – the Foundation for Strengthening Human Security, dedicated to the humanitarian needs of Ukraine.
Zelenska also noted that lost lives cannot be restored, but survivors must be provided with decent living conditions.
Zelenska and her delegation were received by the President of the Republic, Nataša Pirc Musar, on Monday. This was followed by talks between Zelenska and the spouse of the President, Aleš Musar, and their delegations. Afterwards, the Ukrainian First Lady and the President’s spouse visited the pediatric clinic in Ljubljana.
The main purpose of the visit of the spouse of the Ukrainian President was to participate in Tuesday’s meeting of the ITF Advisory Board, where Zelenska, along with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko, presented Ukraine’s needs for humanitarian aid to the victims of the war.
According to the Ukrainian First Lady, devastating Russian attacks are the reality of Ukraine’s everyday life. In October alone, 390 buildings, or about ten buildings a day, were destroyed or damaged in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, she illustrated. She thanked those gathered, especially Slovenia, for assistance and support, including through the ITF organization.
The Ukrainian delegation was also received by the Prime Minister, Robert Golob, who assured that Slovenia would continue its assistance to Ukraine in the future and also expressed support for Ukraine’s path to the EU and NATO. (November 18 and 19)
