Skopje – The Skopje “Public Transportation Company” (JSP) today received six new ecological buses powered by compressed natural gas through the “EU for Clean Air” project, a donation from the European Union.
– This activity we are carrying out today is a project worth 10 million euros, which will contribute to reducing polluted air, as it is an environmental problem we feel as soon as the heating season starts and has been taking a toll on citizens’ health for years, said the European Union ambassador in the country, Mihail Rokas, at the handover of the six ecological buses at the JSP Directorate.
The project, as he added, includes the cities of Bitola, Kumanovo, Skopje, and Tetovo, namely those facing increased air pollution.
– Transport is the reason for the large amount of carbon dioxide emissions we release into the atmosphere. This way, we enable citizens to use public transport instead of individual vehicles. We must make public transport pollute as little as possible, emphasized Rokas. (November 26)
