Brussels – The State Secretary at the Slovenian Ministry of Culture Marko Rusjan presented the EPK 2025 at the meeting of ministers of culture, which brings together the Slovenian city of Nova Gorica and the Italian city of Gorizia. This will be the first EPK, within which two cities in two countries will share one title. Before the presentation, Rusjan emphasized the importance of the cross-border aspect of the project.
“We want to emphasize the importance of cross-border cooperation. In these times, when border controls are being re-established in some places – Schengen is also suspended at the Italian-Slovenian border – such a project is very important for local residents who are otherwise used to living by the border,” said the state secretary.
The program director of EPK 2025, Stojan Pelko, emphasized that due to the temporary control at the Italian-Slovenian border, the slogan Let’s Go! Boundless is not yet a state, but a mission.
“It is precisely with the number of projects currently being woven between the two cities and countries that ties are being established that cannot be severed with a single political gesture,” he said following the press conference on EPK 2025 at the Slovenian permanent representation to the EU.
As the most relevant European message of EPK Nova Gorica-Gorica, he highlighted the fact that the area where it will take place was the scene of two wars in the 20th century but has been able to rebuild itself in new circumstances.
EPK Nova Gorica-Gorica, which will officially start on February 8 on the Slovenian cultural holiday, is expected by organizers to offer approximately 400 official program events and an equal number of accompanying program events. (November 26)
