This was stated by the interim social minister Ivaylo Ivanov in a greeting on the occasion of today’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, published on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP).
Ensuring adequate support for you and your relatives has always been a priority of MLSP, said Ivanov, adding that people with disabilities are an invaluable resource for the labor market. Investments in the development of your skills and adapting workplaces are investments in innovations that can contribute to increasing productivity and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises in the context of a demographic crisis and talent shortage, commented he, added Ivanov.
He pointed out that the National Map of Social Services has already been adopted and emphasized that it guarantees their development and provides greater access to support. A large part of the planned new social services are aimed precisely at the socialization and integration of people with disabilities, as well as at providing an opportunity for their relatives, currently engaged in their care, to get a chance to return to society.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated on December 3rd since 1992 with a resolution of the UN General Assembly, in order to raise awareness in the international community about the issues of people with disabilities and the benefits of their inclusion in various fields of social development, according to information from the “Reference” department of BTA. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 1.3 billion people worldwide have disabilities, which represents 16 percent of the global population. It is estimated that one in every six people has a disability. (December 3rd)
