Skopje – The cooperation between North Macedonia and Slovenia is continuously without open questions, based on traditional friendship, strong strategic partnership and long-term constructive support both politically and economically, concluded the Minister of Economy and Labor, Besar Durmishi and the Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Labor, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Luka Mesec at today’s bilateral meeting.

– Within the framework of economic cooperation between North Macedonia and Slovenia, I am pleased to say that in the past period there have been no major difficulties or open questions regarding the conditions in which the trade exchange took place, said Minister Durmishi.

Durmishi and Mesec discussed deepening cooperation between the two countries in the process of revising the Law on Employment and Unemployment Insurance, which regulates the work of the Employment Agency, as well as rights based on insurance in the event of unemployment which started in 2021 as an opportunity to receive expert support from Slovenia to finalize this process.

– Given the natural migration in Balkan countries, especially towards those in the EU, we are interested in concluding a bilateral agreement with Slovenia for employment mediation, which would take place between the two national employment agencies. Our goal is to facilitate a simplified employment procedure between the two countries, while simultaneously protecting the workers and their rights when performing temporary work, emphasized Durmishi.

The two ministers have agreed to continue cooperation in the field of labor law and employment policies in order for North Macedonia to keep pace with labor market movements, following the example of modern economies. (December 12)
