Bratislava – The overall level of trust services provision is to be increased at the national level and also within the European community. This follows from the amendment to the Act on Trust Services for Electronic Transactions on the Internal Market, which was signed on Friday by the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini. One of the most important additions is the provisions on the European Digital Identity Wallet, which represents a harmonized means of electronic identification for individuals and legal entities throughout the EU, informs TASR.
“Through the European Digital Identity Wallet, secure access to public and private services will be provided through an improved ecosystem of trust services and through verified identity proofs and electronic attribute certifications, such as academic qualifications, including university degrees or other achieved forms of education or professional qualifications,” stated the submitter of the law.
In this context, the amendment also adjusts the roles and scope of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic in the field of digital identification and electronic attribute certification. Thus, the Ministry of the Interior will provide the European Digital Identity Wallet to all entities in the public and private sectors that are qualified trust service providers or demonstrate that they have a contract with a qualified provider.
Trust services are electronic services provided within the EU member states that help citizens and organizations implement the electronization of processes and documents. (December 13th)
