Skopje – No one should have any dilemma that the transatlantic partnership is not only ours but also a priority for Germany and the USA, stated today at a press conference in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.
– That partnership is a guarantor for peace everywhere in the world, something that all of us need, including in Ukraine and in all countries in the world generally. In that transatlantic partnership, the strongest links are the USA and Germany. Hence, no one should have any dilemma here, said Mickoski, adding that he expects even greater strengthening of bilateral relations with Berlin following the victory of his VMRO-DPMNE’s sister party, the CDU, in the German parliamentary elections.
To the question of whether following his last week’s visit to the USA he expects the new American administration to “help us in the bilateral problem with Bulgaria,” Mickoski said with the contacts with the close environment of President Donald Trump, we can “only gain, and not lose.”
– I have a feeling, and what I managed to see and hear in person is that slowly but surely from Washington and everywhere in the world a new normal will spread and reign. We are among the first to support the new normal, and I find that it will become widespread in the upcoming period and will receive great support worldwide. I find that with the contacts we have from the closest perimeter of President Trump, we can only gain, and not lose, emphasized Mickoski.
He reiterated that the bilateral dispute we have with Bulgaria is a dispute that generally has nothing to do with 21st-century values, so our country should soon formally start negotiations with the EU. (February 24)
