“I think it is an important meeting from an economic point of view. It is in the EU’s interest to support relations with these countries,” Fiala said. The security, strategic, and geopolitical dimensions of the relationships are also crucial.
Rama said that there is a very ambitious plan, because as he stated, “we want Albania to be ready and to have fulfilled all the objectives and hit all the targets that the process has before the year 2030”.
The EU has, since the end of last April, new community rules for deficit and public debt (while maintaining the ceilings of, respectively, 3% and 60% of GDP), given the reform of the bloc’s budgetary rules that the Member States will start applying in 2025 after drawing up national plans.
To advance the energy transition in Europe, the federal government believes that processes need to be accelerated. In a joint appeal with eleven other EU countries, Germany is now calling on the EU Commission to take action.
