In the tourist area of Velipojë in the northern city of Albania, Shkodër, about 90 kilometers northwest of Tirana, the road infrastructure will be improved through the sovereign loan funds of the EBRD, granted within the framework of the project for improving tourism infrastructure in Albania that has been implemented for several years in Albania.
The project “For infrastructure and tourism in Albania” is financed by the European Union through technical assistance and investment grants in a total amount of 40 million euros as well as the supplementary sovereign loan provided by the EBRD for the government of Albania.
The project is being developed in the municipality of Shkodër and is a continuation of the new bridge project over the Buna River in the border area between Albania and Montenegro. This project will connect the bridge over the Buna River with the national road Shkodër-Velipojë, the border crossing point, and the supporting infrastructure.
This project targets the coastal border area that extends from the northern coastline of Albania to the delta of the Buna/Bojana River in the Adriatic Sea.
The entire area represents a great tourist potential, with well-known destinations such as Shëngjin and Velipoja on the Albanian side, with unexplored but wonderful beaches such as Rana e Hedhun, Rrjoll, with lagoons, islands, hills, natural parks, rivers etc., and Ulcinj in Montenegro with wonderful and salty beaches and cultural riches. / (July 5)
