Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Schulz agreed on Wednesday “to work for a more united, stronger, more sovereign Europe” after Donald Trump’s victory in the American presidential election, with the French head of state advocating for a “coordinated European strategy.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib (MR), who has been nominated as European Commissioner, completed her hearing in the European Parliament on Wednesday morning. Several parliamentarians grilled her about the issuance of visas to an Iranian delegation in 2023 and about her trip to the Russian-occupied Crimea when she was still a journalist, but Lahbib was able to easily deflect those questions.
