In Tirana, the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative was held, under the auspices of the Assembly of Albania. The Albanian Speaker, Elisa Spiropali, during her speech, focused on the progress of the European integration process of Albania, noting that the country is awaiting the second intergovernmental conference.
“For us, European integration is the only solution,” said Spiropali.
The European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, emphasized in his speech that this initiative “brings together the existing member states and those that will be future member states, enabling even better cooperation as a very important part of European integration.
“For this region to become part of the EU, this is the integral part of our broader vision for a Europe that is stabilized, secured, and prosperous,” said Gonzato.
Gonzato highlighted that the accession process is not just a technocratic process but means a change of the entire society, and for this, the role of the Assembly is needed.
It is clear, Gonzato emphasized, that both sides understand, both within and outside the EU, that this moment for enlargement is important and must be carried forward, and for this, we need further and strong efforts for reforms. (October 2)
