Sarajevo, (Fena) – The Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) considers it very positive that the authorities of one of the two Bosnian-Herzegovinian entities, Republika Srpska (RS), have decided to withdraw the controversial proposed law on “foreign agents” which was not in accordance with European standards.
The Delegation emphasizes that the EU path is the best guarantee of greater prosperity and stability for BiH and has called on political leaders to focus on taking the necessary steps to adopt the negotiating framework, following the green light for accession negotiations.
The government of the RS entity has withdrawn from the procedure the Proposal for the Law on the Special Register and Public Work of Non-Profit Organizations, publicly known as the law on “foreign agents”.
The draft law was withdrawn just before the consideration of this item on the agenda at the session of the National Assembly of RS.
This law was previously adopted in the preliminary form by the NSRS and encountered numerous criticisms from the non-governmental sector and the international community in BiH. (30.05.)
