Bucharest – Stephane Sejourne, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for prosperity and industrial strategy, is making a visit to Bucharest on Wednesday and Thursday, where he will have meetings with a series of government officials, including Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
“Before the official presentation of the European Commission’s Clean Industry Pact and a few weeks after the launch of the strategic dialogue on the automotive industry, this visit marks the fourth stage of the Executive Vice-President’s tour of the most strategic industrial sectors and supply chains in Europe – including, this time, a specific focus on batteries,” reads a press release from the European Commission’s representation in Romania.
The high-ranking European official has scheduled meetings with the Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, as well as with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and the President of the Senate, Ilie Bolojan.
Stephane Sejourne will also visit the “Prime Batteries Technology” factory, a Romanian company, supplier of state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries and customized energy storage systems for a multitude of sectors and enterprises throughout Europe. This visit will be an opportunity to showcase the indispensable role played by batteries in the decarbonization of supply chains in Europe. The Executive Vice-President will also discuss the challenges faced by the battery sector, as well as Europe’s response in this regard.
Stephane Sejourne will conclude his visit with a trip to the National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development (INCAS), the main research center in the field of aerospace sciences in Romania.
