Paris – There are relatively few voters who would like their country to leave the European Union, including on the far right, which may explain the shift in position of formations of this tendency such as in France or Italy, according to a Ipsos survey.
According to this research carried out for the Foundation for Political Innovation, a French think tank, in the 27 countries, only 13% of voters want their country to separate from the EU.
The countries where their weight is the most significant are Bulgaria (22%), the Czech Republic (20%), Austria (19%) and France (18%). Conversely, only 3% of Portuguese and 5% of Lithuanians want to leave the Union.
For the countries that have adopted the euro, only 8% want to return to their national currency. The highest figure is in Croatia (14%), the last country to have adopted the single currency, and the lowest again in Portugal (3%). It is 10% in France. Voters of far-right parties are also overwhelmingly in favor of staying in the EU. (28.05.2024)
