The European Newsroom (enr) welcomed its correspondents and the European Parliament Press Service and Spokesperson’s Unit to a networking event on March 26 at the Belga News Agency’s office in Brussels.

The networking session was a lively exchange between enr correspondents, and the teams of the recently appointed Spokesperson and Head of Spokesperson’s Unit, Delphine Colard, and the Head of the Press Unit, Neil Corlett.

The enr also invited press officers from the European Parliament’s editorial coordination team and a wide range of committees including:

  • Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE)
  • Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI)
  • Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM)
  • Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE)
  • International Trade (INTA)
  • Foreign Affairs (AFET) / Security and Defence (SEDE)
  • Budgets (BUDG)
  • Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO)

The ENR editorial team was joined by about a dozen correspondents from the participating agencies.

In a relaxed setting, the discussion touched on everything from the practicalities of using the European Parliament’s media and broadcast services to the intricacies of responding to journalists’ numerous questions every day.

The enr team also outlined their ongoing editorial work – like its jointly produced Key Stories and its Europe in brief news, a selection of the agencies’ EU news – on the website and explained how it conducts joint interviews, often with high-ranking EU officials.
