Brussels – Nearly five years after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweden’s share of the EU’s large recovery support is soon on its way.
The EU countries’ finance ministers are expected to approve next Tuesday the revised plan that Sweden has submitted to obtain just over 3.5 billion euros – equivalent to approximately 40 billion Swedish kronor – from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
The plan was submitted in September and received the thumbs up from the European Commission in mid-November. An initial disbursement is expected to occur sometime after the turn of the year.
“If everything goes as we hope, we should be able to submit a first payment application before the New Year,” said Sweden’s Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson last fall.
