Brussels – In the European Parliament, the N-VA remains a member of the ECR group, the European Conservatives and Reformists. This is reported by MEP Johan Van Overtveldt. With three elected members, the N-VA is one of the three largest Belgian parties in the hemicycle.
Earlier this year, Flemish Prime Minister Jan Jambon still stated that the N-VA no longer feels at home with the ECR and might look for other places after the elections on June 9. But after a few weeks of negotiations, everything remains the same.
This means that the former Minister of Finance Van Overtveldt and the two other elected members of N-VA – Assita Kanko and Kris Van Dijck – will remain on the ECR benches for the next five years.
The Polish opposition party PiS (Law and Justice) also remains with the ECR. As a result, the group will have 84 members in the next legislature.
