New town – Representatives of the Slovenian government and the French vehicle manufacturer Renault signed a memorandum of understanding in New Mesto, southeastern Slovenia, based on which the renovated version of the electric Twingo will be produced in the Revoz factory. According to Renault, the new Twingo model also represents a response to the reindustrialization of Europe.
At the ceremony in the production facilities of the Revoz factory in New Mesto, where Renault passenger cars have been manufactured since 1973, the memorandum of understanding was signed by Prime Minister Robert Golob, Vice President for Industrial Affairs of the Renault brand Herbert Steiner, and President of the Revoz Management Board Jože Bele. According to the agreement, Renault can also count on the support of the Slovenian state for the investment. The production launch is scheduled for 2026, with an initial production of 150,000 vehicles per year.
The first goal, according to Bele, is to maintain the current number of workers, but as he added, with the establishment of new processes, they also foresee the creation of new jobs, especially those with higher added value. The signing of the memorandum also ensures stable business operations and progress in the fields of digitalization, artificial intelligence, decarbonization, and sustainable mobility, he said.
Steiner from Renault said that the Twingo E-tech electric model represents a response to decarbonization, air quality issues, affordable electric mobility, and ultimately the reindustrialization of Europe. (July 24)
