Skopje – The President of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi met with Anzej Franges, the special representative of Slovenia in North Macedonia, where he highlighted the excellent decades-long bilateral relations between the two countries and the dynamics of meetings at all levels, as the greatest confirmation of the mutual desire for closer connection.

– During the meeting, President Gashi emphasized Slovenia’s commitment to keeping the issue of enlargement high on the EU’s agenda, as well as the support it gives our country on the path to the EU. Experiences show that the enlargement process is the only tool for ensuring prosperity, security, and stability on the European continent, and as such, it should continue with even greater intensity, according to the statement from the parliamentary press service.

Franges, on the other hand, congratulated Gashi on his work so far as President of the Assembly and expressed readiness for further intensification and deepening of communication and cooperation on topics of mutual interest.

Franges emphasized that it is of particular importance for the process of opening negotiation chapters to begin as soon as possible and for the country to join the EU, for which Slovenia will give continuous open and strong support to the Republic of North Macedonia. (February 12)
