BRATISLAVA – Slovakia sent 18 firefighters and 12 pieces of equipment to France on Wednesday. They will monitor the situation in areas with a higher risk of wildfires. They will be deployed in the country until the first of September. Zuzana Geguššová from the media communication department of the Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) Presidium informed TASR about this.
“HaZZ members will carry out tasks according to French directives, monitoring wildfires and being ready to intervene on-site if necessary,” clarified Geguššová, adding that if no emergency situation occurs, firefighters will be able to exchange valuable advice with their French colleagues. Lucia Kurilovská, the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, also participated in the dispatch of the ground firefighting module.
