BRUSSEL (ANP) – Hungary believes that space should be given “to peace talks between the US and Russia,” said Szijjártó Thursday in Washington.
He also criticized Brussels from the US. In his view, Brussels makes hasty decisions that hinder peace efforts. Hungary also accuses the European Commission of violating promises about restarting Ukrainian gas transit through Hungary.
On Monday, all Foreign Ministers will meet in Brussels for a full day of meetings. The extension of the sanctions list against individuals from Russia and Belarus is on the agenda, among other things.
The 27 ministers will also make an official decision on the sixteenth sanctions package against Russia. The Hungarian ambassador agreed to this earlier this week. It is highly unusual for the minister to suddenly change his mind.
