Ljubljana – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved European funds for the project Move to Exercise. The European Social Fund Plus will allocate almost 2.8 million euros for it. The aim of the project is to establish conditions for the inclusion of adult Slovenians in professionally led sports and recreational exercise programs, thereby increasing the proportion of physically active individuals.
The Move to Exercise project will establish a wide network of providers offering high-quality, professionally led sports, recreational, and preventive programs to promote health and activate adults at the local level, which will meet quality standards, the ministry reported.
The programs will be aimed at the physically inactive adult population – individuals who are not physically active in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization. They will be allowed free inclusion in the selected sports and recreational exercise program.
For the project worth 4,411,765 euros, the European Social Fund Plus will contribute 2,797,059 euros, the ministry reported. (June 19)
