Skopje – Peace in Ukraine cannot be discussed without the participation of Ukrainians because it endangers their sovereignty and territorial integrity. It would be a strong blow to international law and the world we have been building since World War II, emphasized the President of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, in an address before the MPs in the Macedonian Assembly.
He pointed out that the world is changing globally politically, becoming more dangerous and values are under attack, and in the context of new circumstances with the war in Ukraine, he emphasized that “these days both the EU and NATO are overshadowed by gray clouds” and that “perhaps since the beginning of their founding, this is the greatest turning point for both organizations.”
– We do not know what their future will look like and that is why it is very important to make great efforts to establish a lasting world peace. In recent months, we have witnessed that on both sides of the Atlantic there are different visions of what peace should look like. Time will show to what extent it is possible to establish a common vision for that peace. For us, it is important that this peace is sustainable and just, and not an uncertain future, Jandroković said, adding that the international order cannot be disrupted, because it would be an incredible precedent that would create instability and justify aggression.
The President of the Croatian Parliament stated that the increasingly dangerous global environment confirms the importance of establishing even closer cooperation among friends.
– The Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia are such. It is important to continue cooperation on a bilateral and multilateral level. And that is the purpose of my visit. It happens at an important moment – in three weeks we celebrate the establishment of our diplomatic relations, as well as the alliance we have achieved in NATO. We hope that our partnership in NATO will be further enhanced with your membership in the European Union, said Jandroković. (March 6)
