Goettweig, (Fena) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, held a bilateral meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, on the sidelines of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Western Balkan countries and the “Group of Friends of the Western Balkans” in Goettweig.
Konaković expressed hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon have a negotiating framework, as well as the first intergovernmental conference, and that EU enlargement will remain high on the priority list of EU institutions in Brussels.
He emphasized that a challenging reform path lies ahead, but we remain determined to make BiH a full member of the European family. He informed his interlocutor that we continue to align foreign policy with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, highlighting that last year this alignment was one hundred percent.
High Representative Borrell stressed the importance of continuing the reform process in BiH and fulfilling the 14 key priorities from the European Commission’s Opinion. He conveyed that he expects progress from BiH in the coming period to take advantage of this historic opportunity to firmly link its future to the European Union.
In a statement to Fena, Konaković also announced the possibility of holding another major meeting in Brussels, under the current European Commission composition.
He reminded that European officials stated that more has been done in thirteen months than in the previous ten years. He also mentioned that those who obstruct and block processes will politically pay the price for it. (21.6.)
