BRUSSELS – The Russian military aggression against Ukraine clearly shows the need to strengthen and increase European defense forces, to enhance the European defense industry. This was said by the Bulgarian Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov during the informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union in Brussels, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Kondov emphasized the need to increase support for Ukraine for the rapid restoration of the energy infrastructure and continued support for defensive capabilities. We continue to support President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace formula as the only possible basis for achieving lasting peace, stated the Bulgarian minister.
Earlier, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the social network “X” that Bulgaria is willing to work with Ukraine to further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries. The post was in response to a publication by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who congratulated Kondov on his appointment as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The agenda of the informal meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels, the first for the new political season, included the situation in Ukraine, the developments in the Middle East, and the situation in Venezuela following the presidential elections there. (August 29, 2024)
