Oxford – Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and his British colleague Keir Starmer advocated for strengthening cooperation in the fight against organized crime on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Oxford, UK. In light of this, the two countries will enhance the exchange of expertise and information. This is part of the UK’s efforts to strengthen cooperation in this area with other European countries, including EU member states.
Golob and Starmer expressed their commitment to cooperation in law enforcement and the fight against organized crime groups in a joint statement following their bilateral meeting.
They also confirmed the importance of the joint fight against terrorism, organized crime, including illegal migration, and other forms of cross-border crime, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
In light of this, they agreed that the two countries will cooperate by exchanging analyses and expertise, enhancing information exchange between law enforcement agencies, and cooperation in judicial matters.
The new British Prime Minister, who has been in office since early July, announced plans to strengthen cooperation with European partners in the fight against illegal migration after the fourth summit of the European Political Community, which he hosted. The agreement with Slovenia is part of this effort.
Starmer will also aim to renew relations with the rest of Europe, after the United Kingdom left the EU four years ago. (18 July)
