Skopje – Under the slogan “Together we fight, together we will succeed!” several activities were organized marking 33 years of independence. Congratulations on Independence Day – September 8 were extended by numerous foreign embassies, the EU Delegation, NATO, and several associations and political parties.
The formal academy took place at the Macedonian Philharmonic in Skopje, where Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced ten principles for development, stability, and prosperity and called for unity and cohesion.
-The citizens deserve to live in a country where honesty and justice are leading principles. It’s time to put an end to lawlessness and build a state that will protect the interests of its citizens. Crime must not be stronger than the Government and this evil is coming to an end, emphasized Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in his speech at the formal academy on the occasion of Independence Day – September 8 under the slogan “Together we fight, together we will succeed!”.
Part of the ten principles that the Prime Minister announced today included the establishment of justice and the rule of law, the end of the politicization of society, the improvement of citizens’ standards, and the fulfillment of the strategic goal of joining the European Union.
– For all these principles I ask for unity and cohesion. I send a message to the opposition leaders around these 10 principles to unite us all, cleanse yourselves of the crime in your ranks and reform. And accept this that I offer as a platform around which we unite, pointed out the Prime Minister.
Additionally, he pointed out that we must have general consensus to fulfill our strategic goal, which is membership in the European Union.
– We have no other alternative, nor does another real chance exist. The people’s desire for membership in the Union is a desire for a better standard, higher criteria, more money, and a middle system. And we as a Government and society must not deviate from the European path, emphasized Mickoski.
At the ceremony, besides Prime Minister Mickoski, the President of the country, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, and the President of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi, as well as several representatives from the legislative, executive, judicial authorities, and religious communities were present. (September 9)
