Brussels – The European Commission opened an investigation on Tuesday into the business practices of the German meal and grocery delivery company Delivery Hero and the Spanish company Glovo, suspected of colluding on prices to the detriment of competition.
Delivery Hero, a minority shareholder of Glovo since 2018, took control of the Spanish firm in July 2022, recalls the Commission in a statement.
And the investigation concerns “possible anti-competitive agreements” that may have occurred between the two companies before this takeover.
They may have agreed on the division of geographic markets or shared commercially sensitive information –for example, on business strategies, prices, capacities, costs, product characteristics–, lists the Commission.
There is also concern that they may have agreed “not to poach each other’s employees”. (2018-2022). (23.07/2024)
