Skopje – The Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski today in Washington, USA, had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban with whom they agreed to establish special economic cooperation in the future according to which the ministries of finance of both governments will start a process in which the Hungarian government will lend the Macedonian government a sum of 500 million with an interest rate of 3.25 percent, three years grace period and 12 years repayment period, which is a total of 15 years. Additionally, the country will be able to seek additional economic support.
– Today, together with the Prime Minister of the Hungarian Government, Mr. Viktor Orban, we had an extremely high-quality and fruitful meeting. We discussed several topics, among which the topic which may be the most important for Macedonian citizens, and that is that the two governments agreed to establish special economic cooperation in the future, something that will mean security and something that will mean financial stability for our Macedonian economy. In the name of that cooperation we agreed that immediately now the responsible persons, the ministries of finance of the two governments, begin the process in which the Hungarian government will lend the Macedonian government a sum of 500 million euros under the following conditions, namely an interest rate of 3.25 percent, three years grace period, and 12 years repayment period, which is a total of 15 years, Mickoski informed after the meeting.
According to him, given that special economic cooperation is being established, it will mean that in the future, when there is a need for such a thing, the country will be able to turn again to our special economic partner – the Hungarian Government and request additional support that will be needed for the Macedonian economy.
– I want to inform the Macedonian public that these 500 million euros will be used in the following way: 250 million euros directly support the Macedonian economy under the same conditions, 3.25 percent interest, three years grace period, 12 years repayment period or a total of 15 years. The Macedonian economy will receive conditions that it has not been able to obtain on the economic and financial market until now, and 250 million euros will be allocated for capital projects that will be carried out in municipalities and will be exclusively intended for the needs of citizens. Macedonia is loved with actions, we continue further here in Washington, he emphasizes.
