Seven decades after its first staging, the operetta “Agimi” returned to the “Andon Zako Çajupi” theater, as part of MIK Fest, supported by the European Union Delegation in Albania.
With the direction of the internationally renowned Albanian soprano Inva Mula, this work, first performed in 1954, once again conveyed the love for life and for the country.
“We are proud that this year at MIK Fest we support values that go hand in hand with art, culture, and beautiful Albanian tradition,” the EU Delegation in Albania expressed in an online post.
The special feature of this year’s edition was the collaboration of MIK Festival with the Armed Forces orchestra, a concert that was well-received by the citizens of Korçë as well as the numerous visitors, some of whom were there specifically for MIK Festival.
For the organizer, Inva Mula, this edition was the most beautiful and unique.
Regarding the operetta brought back after 70 years, Mula stated that it was a work that deserved to be given life and light, as it contains pure Albanian motifs and is the cornerstone of Albanian vocal stage art.
In addition to the performance on the stage of the “Andon Zako Çajupi” theater, MIK Festival also has the merits of digitizing the work, enabling its presence in every library, to remain in the history of music.
The concluding activity of the 2024 edition took place in the courtyard of the church of Saint Nicholas in Voskopoja, with a simple but at the same time spiritual program, with Ave Maria by Schubert and Bach, with natural acoustics.
MIK Festival, conceived and directed by the world-renowned Albanian soprano Inva Mula, is focused in Korçë and its surroundings, as the idea to realize it came to soprano Mula right there, in this city which, as she says, has the fabric of great art.
MIK Festival is one of the few artistic events in Albania that is offered free of charge to all art lovers./ (17 July)
