Sarajevo (Fena) – The Council of Ministers of BiH has taken another step towards European integration by adopting the proposal of the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), a key body for judicial oversight. This law is part of the reform obligations that BiH must fulfill on its path to EU membership.
The Minister of Justice of BiH Davor Bunoza emphasized that this proposal improves the transparency of the judiciary, introduces a career advancement system, and more precisely defines the competencies and responsibilities of HJPC members. The new law limits the mandates of Council members, prevents consecutive holding of office, and ensures impartial evaluation of judges through a special commission instead of the previous individual decisions by court presidents.
This law did not receive the support of the representatives of the Serbian people in the Council of Ministers of BiH. (4.3.)
