Budapest – Decent Ministers and State Secretaries of EU member states discussed strengthening the competitiveness of the European economy at an informal meeting in Budapest on Tuesday. They also talked about establishing a competitive electromobility system, with the State Secretary at the Slovenian Ministry of Economy Matevž Frangež emphasizing the importance of investments.
As stated by the Ministry of Economy, ministers and state secretaries focused on key elements of the new European Competitiveness Pact, which member state leaders are expected to adopt at the informal meeting in Budapest in November.
“If the EU wants to establish industrial and innovation leadership, it needs both a bottom-up and top-down approach,” Frangež emphasized regarding economic competitiveness.
At the meeting, they also discussed establishing a competitive electromobility system, with the Slovenian State Secretary emphasizing that the European industry needs investments.
“We must focus on design and access to markets. We should think about infrastructure and renewable energy production and ensure competitive prices. The speed of change will also be critical,” his words were quoted by the ministry. (July 9)
