New York – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mutsunski, upon information that North Macedonia and Albania are separating on the road to the EU, says that we must remain committed to reforms, and from a foreign policy perspective, we will continue communication with our strategic partners and EU member states – to convince them that we want the accession negotiations to open as soon as possible.
– That is our key priority, but we are seeking the establishment of a system that will provide predictability on our path to full membership, said Minister Mutsunski in an interview for MIA.
Asked how he comments on information from Brussels that if there are no constitutional changes by the New Year, the talks for our membership in the EU will end, the Minister of Foreign Affairs says he doubts that will happen.
– I don’t want to believe in briefings. I want to believe in what we talk about with the political representatives of the member states and with the representatives of the EU, which is that the EU remains committed to the Western Balkans, wants full integration of the Western Balkans, and from that point of view, knowing the essence of the EU’s enlargement policy as a composite policy, I doubt there will be any cessation of talks with the state, said Mutsunski.
The Minister said he won’t comment on the statements of Bulgarian politicians from recent days, and regarding the declaration, he said that whenever there are elections in Bulgaria, some kind of declaration is made.
– I won’t give them the privilege to engage in the everyday discourse of that campaign, and I wish for a successful conclusion of the campaign. We should have a political government, I will repeat, which with full political legitimacy will discuss with us all open issues because as much as this blocking of European processes concerns us, I believe that those who genuinely believe in the European future of Bulgaria want to unblock this process for us to move forward together on the same paths, said Mutsunski.
