Skopje – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia, Timcho Mutsunski, today received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed ambassador and head of the Delegation of the European Union in Skopje, Michalis Rokas, noting that his diplomatic mission begins at an extremely important moment for the European future of the country and in this sense expressed confidence that with strong mutual commitment, decisive progress will be made towards the realization of our strategic commitment for future EU membership.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade reported, Mutsunski expressed satisfaction with the continuous support of the European Union so far for advancing the reform processes, stability, and prosperity of the country, and highlighted our readiness for further deepening of the mutual partnership based on common values and interests.
The importance of the earliest possible integration of the Western Balkan countries into the EU was also emphasized at the meeting, and in this context, the recently adopted Growth Plan for the Western Balkans was welcomed as a significant political and financial investment by the Union in the region and an additional impetus for achieving this common goal.
Until now, this position in the country was held by Euroambassador David Geer. (September 5)
